A sculpted kitchen at the heart of Villa Astoria, where classical symmetry meets artisanal precision. The hand-carved solid oak plinth supports a sweeping marble island with soft radii, while the custom hood, wrapped entirely in Calacatta Oro, reads as a stone frieze with a delicately curved soffit. Crafted joinery, bronze-detailed vitrines, and a coffered flow into the dining room complete the composition.

Villa Astoria – Kitchen by Paul
A study in sculptural harmony and material mastery

At the heart of Villa Astoria, the kitchen reveals itself as an architectural composition symmetrical, poetic, and deeply rooted in craftsmanship. The focal point: a monumental kitchen island clad in full-slab Calacatta Oro marble. Its commanding presence is softened by deeply rounded corners and anchored by a hand-carved solid oak plinth, custom-designed to taper outward in a classic torus profile. This base subtly lifts the mass of stone, creating the illusion of weightlessness beneath the marble volume.

The island spans across the room as a sculptural element void of visible hardware, defined by clean continuous stone lines, and accentuated by bespoke stools with totemic wooden silhouettes, echoing the island’s sculpted rhythm.

Framing the space is a wall of full-height oak joinery, punctuated by custom vitrines with reeded bronze mesh and softly integrated lighting. At its center, a marble-wrapped hood sits atop a bookmatched backsplash its profile expressed with a curved underside and chamfered side reveals, referencing the architectural language of cornices and classical soffits. The result is not a mere vent hood but a sculpted frieze in stone tailored, intentional, and monumental.

From every angle, the space is a dialogue between classic proportion and modern purity where traditional millwork detailing meets architectural restraint, and material richness is elevated through precision and poise.
